Dallas Area Rapid Transit

David sponsored the introduction of leading-edge electronic payment and mobile ticketing initiatives at Dallas Area Rapid Transit, including the deployment of the first comprehensive mobile ticketing platform in the United States, followed by the first agency to link LYFT, UBER and Zipcar and currently expanding to include carpooling, micro-transit and bikeshare.  He is the past chair of the Financial Management Committee of the American Public Transportation Association and T-FLEX, the Transit Finance Learning Exchange.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is the regional transit agency for Dallas, Texas, and 12 surrounding cities. It provides bus, light rail, commuter rail, paratransit and vanpool services to more than 200,000 daily passengers across its 700-square-mile service area.)

 


Katie Nelson

C-TRAN

Katie has worked for C-TRAN for five years, first running its Vanpool program and now as C-TRAN’s Project Manager. She has been involved in a wide variety of projects including Hop Fastpass, a regional state-of-the-art electronic fare system, and more recently a transit-oriented development project in the feasibility phase. Katie is a graduate of Washington State University.

C-TRAN has provided public transit service in Clark County, Washington since 1981. It offers Local bus service within Clark County, C-VAN paratransit service, plus Regional and Express routes to Portland. In 2017, C-TRAN launched the region’s first bus rapid transit system, The Vine.

Porterville Transit

Richard is a senior public transit executive with 16 years' experience and is skilled in leveraging teams to achieve ambitious organizational goals on-time and on-budget.

The city of Porterville implemented Porterville Transit (PT), a full-time fixed route service, in early July of 1997. It began as a two-route system, but quickly matured to the eight-route system of today.

 

Moderated by Leah Harnack. Leah is the executive editor of Mass Transit. She joined the magazine in 2004 as assistant editor and rose through the ranks, overseeing editorial direction of content since 2011 and has led major expansion of the digital footprint. She was previously at Kalmbach Publishing Co. with Model Retailer and Astronomy magazines.
